until he beholds Bettina, the sheltered ward of two of the Lore’s most fearsome villains.

SHE’S BOUND TO ANOTHER...

Desperate to earn her guardians’ approval after a life-shattering mistake, young Bettina has no choice but to marry whichever suitor prevails—even though she’s lost her heart to another.
Yet one lethal competitor, a mysterious cloaked swordsman, invades her dreams, tempting her with forbidden pleasure.

A BATTLE FOR HER BODY AND SOUL

Even if Trehan can survive the punishing contests to claim her as his wife, the true battle for Bettina’s heart is yet to come. And unleashing a millennium’s worth of savage need will either frighten his Bride away - or stoke Bettina’s own desires to a fever pitch....

Review:

Hot on the heels of her successful Immortals After Dark series, Kresley Cole launches a new a spin off series exploring a whole new branch of vampires and featuring new characters in the first book of The Dacians series, Shadow's Claim!

Considering we were briefly introduced to The Dacians in Lothaire I was very excited to read this book. Dacia is a secretive and mysterious society; often considered a myth and those who live within it nothing if not complete mysteries. With five different house's warring and fighting each other fto the throne of this mysterious world, it's been interesting discovering Lorthaire's connection and heritage as well as his place within this society in the last two books.

After Lothaire's ascension to the throne of Dacia, the chance to meet more of these characters was one I looked forward to. Kresley Cole introduces us not only briefly to Dacia, but also the demonic land of Abbandon in Shadow's Claim, proving once more that she has sooooo many layers of her world to unravel.

I did enjoy this book. The world was interesting and the story quite entertaining. I loved both main characters, Bettina and Trehan. Bettina was a sweet female; very young and naive, but also a quick learner and an intelligent young woman. She's confused as to her feelings towards her best friend Caspian and mistakes friendship with romantic love. She's flawed and afraid, due to her experiences in the past, but as she manages to overcome this and slowly grows up, Bettina becomes a really capable young woman.

Trehan Daciano, the Prince of Shadows is another great male lead of Cole's. His fierce devotion to his Bride is unmistakable and his desire to fight his instincts and his own desires for the sake of Bettina is admirable. I liked Trehan, I did.

Together Bettina and Trehan were really sweet. They have chemistry and Cole writes their interactions sexy as hell, but I also liked that Trehan helped Bettina become a woman, as she slowly brought him to life. He wanted her now doubt, and her he, but they also interacted and got to know each other over time--and I liked that.

Shadow's Claim introduces us to a whole new gang of characters I'm looking forward to reading about in the future. From Trehans many cousins to Bettina's best friend Caspian to the phanTOM sylph Salem who had no body but more than made up for it with attitude and wit, I'm looking forward to many, many more terrific tales!
